{"id":1565,"date":"2021-10-27T10:28:56","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T17:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/?p=1565"},"modified":"2021-10-27T10:28:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T17:28:56","slug":"join-aera-at-reduced-rates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/join-aera-at-reduced-rates\/","title":{"rendered":"Join AERA at Reduced Rates!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Join AERA at Reduced Rates!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2022 AERA Doctoral Student Cohort Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership through December 31, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to inform you that we are partnering with the American Educational Research Association (AERA) to offer you reduced dues for this<\/p>\n<p>one-year introductory program to AERA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full time doctoral program students, who are not employed full time and have not been prior AERA members, pay <strong>$29<\/strong> dues falling from the \u00a0Graduate Student dues of $65.<\/li>\n<li>Full time doctoral program students (employed full time) who have not been prior AERA members, pay <strong>$115<\/strong> dues falling from the Regular Member dues of $215.<\/li>\n<li>Part time doctoral program students, who have\u00a0 not been prior AERA members, pay $115 dues falling fromthe Regular Member dues of $215.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the most recognized education research membership organization, AERA\u2019s primary goal is to advance education research and its practical application. Its 22,000 members include educators, administrators, counselors, researchers, evaluators, and graduate students. AERA\u2019s Annual Meeting engages over 14,000 attendees each year.\u00a0 The upcoming AERA Annual Meeting is scheduled for April 22-25, 2022 in San Diego on &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aera.net\/Events-Meetings\/Annual-Meeting\/2022-Annual-Meeting-Presidential-Program-Theme\">Cultivating Equitable Education Systems for the 21st Century<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Join AERA the <strong>2022 Doctoral Student Cohort Program <\/strong>and receive membership from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2021.\u00a0\u00a0 As soon as you join, you will receive email announcements about funding and presenting opportunities from AERA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits of Membership <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting January 1, 2022, you will receive complimentary electronic access to all six of AERA journals. If you wish to have journals mailed to you, you can pay the student rate of $10 per journal.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the AERA Annual Meeting scheduled for April 22-25, 2022 in San Diego at the discounted AERA member student registration fee rate.<\/li>\n<li>A complimentary membership in one of AERA\u2019s 12 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aera.net\/About-AERA\/Member-Constituents\/Divisions\">Divisions<\/a>. Additional Division memberships are just $5 each.<\/li>\n<li>The $7 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aera.net\/About-AERA\/Member-Constituents\/SIGs\">Special Interest Group (SIG)<\/a> administrative fee is waived, so that you can sign up for one or more of AERA\u2019s over 150 SIGs and pay the student SIG dues. This is where you can find your communities in your specific interest area.<\/li>\n<li>Receive announcements of fellowships, awards, grants and numerous calls for submissions. You will receive these notices immediately upon your joining.<\/li>\n<li>Take advantage of valuable networking opportunities through Divisions, SIGS, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aera.net\/About-AERA\/Member-Constituents\/Graduate-Student-Council\">AERA Graduate Student Council(GSC).<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Receive the AERA graduate student newsletter, <em>Connections<\/em>, published three times a year and join the GSC\u2019s listserv.<\/li>\n<li>Access a host of other useful services (e.g., the AERA Job Board, the repository of papers from AERA Annual Meetings, discount insurance) to assist you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Process for enrolling as an AERA 2022 Cohort Doctoral Student:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aera.net\/22cohort\"><strong>aera.net\/22cohort<\/strong><\/a>(if you login at <u>www.aera.net<\/u>, you will not be able to access this program).<\/li>\n<li>If you do not already have an AERA account, create a username and password by scrolling down on the Login page and click on the button \u201cActivate or Create My Account\u201d and on the next page select \u201cCreate a New Account.\u201dProvide your email address and you will be directed to an online membership form to complete.<\/li>\n<li>It is most important that when completing the online form that you answer the question, \u201c<strong>Name of school you attend<\/strong>,\u201d by typing in the word \u201c<strong>Southern California<\/strong>\u201d to search for your school name and selecting from the drop down menu this exact name,\u201c <strong>University of Southern California<\/strong>.\u201d If you do not select your school correctly, you will receive a message saying that your school is not participating.<\/li>\n<li>You will be asked a series of questions to answer.<\/li>\n<li>You will be asked to select membership and enter the Cohort Code of \u201c<strong>2022cohortstudent<\/strong>\u201d and select complimentary Division membership and you may wish to add additional Divisions at $10 each. Select \u201cNext,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select any of the 150 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that you wish to join with the $7 administrative fee waived for joining one or more SIGs and you would pay the student dues for any SIG that you select.<\/li>\n<li>Agree to the AERA Code of Ethics.<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cFinish,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>You will come to the payment page, which identifies each item that you selected with what is complimentary or has a fee. There are buttons if you want to \u201cUpdate your Cart,\u201d \u201cContinue Shopping,\u201d or \u201cProceed to check out\u201d and pay with your credit card to obtain AERA Cohort Doctoral Student Membership for 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Become engaged with AERA by connecting and volunteering with the leaders of the Graduate Student Council, the Division, and any SIGs that you join. with the activities, opportunities, and, most importantly, the relationships you develop because of your AERA membership will benefit your lifetime professional career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions?
