{"id":1522,"date":"2021-06-18T16:33:16","date_gmt":"2021-06-18T23:33:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/?p=1522"},"modified":"2021-06-18T16:33:16","modified_gmt":"2021-06-18T23:33:16","slug":"health-requirements-for-new-students-fall-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/health-requirements-for-new-students-fall-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Requirements for New Students: Fall 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear USC Students,<\/p>\n<p>As you get ready for the academic year, we\u00a0would like to share with you some materials that will help you adjust to campus life and meet some health and safety requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please review the\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/uscedu\/stacks\/a53aa1828e9e4516afb7662a731546c1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>new student materials<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0as you make plans to start the academic year, and share with parents, guardians, and other members of your support network.\u00a0<\/strong>(Materials\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/uscedu\/stacks\/e05984d78fee4956bd4dc0f7f8c84281\">translated into Chinese<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0are available online.) We would also like to remind you to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/getting-started\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>learn about health and immunization requirements<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for new students, including insurance and immunizations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>COVID-19 VACCINATION<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/covid-19-health-services\/covid19-vaccines\/\"><strong>COVID-19 vaccination<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0USC\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/policy.usc.edu\/covid-19-vaccination-program\/#:~:text=All%20University%20faculty%2C%20staff%2C%20and,)%20by%20June%201%2C%202021.\">policy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0requires all students to be vaccinated for COVID-19 or submit a personal declination. Students are required to\u00a0<strong>complete\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/myshr\/\"><strong>uploading<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0vaccination documentation by July 15<\/strong>. Students with a declination will be required to complete regular surveillance testing. If you are an international student unable to obtain vaccination by this date due to shortages in your location, you may arrange to receive vaccination through USC Student Health upon arrival to the United States.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Meeting this COVID-19 safety requirement is mandatory in order to start attending classes on campus this fall semester.\u00a0<\/strong><em>Online degree program students are exempt from this requirement.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>CONSENT FOR TREATMENT<\/p>\n<p>After reviewing the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/uscedu\/docs\/new_student_health_fall_19_revised\">new student requirements<\/a><\/strong>, please follow the instructions to log in to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/usc.edu\/myshr\">usc.edu\/myshr<\/a><\/strong>, complete your consent for treatment (if you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent or guardian complete a<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/files\/2020\/10\/3rdParty_MInorConsent_2020_10.pdf\">third-party consent form<\/a><\/strong>), and upload your immunizations history, including completion of the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for students.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>IMMUNIZATIONS<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you do not have complete records of immunizations,<\/strong>\u00a0or have questions about accepted documents (including lab results), you may schedule a\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/questions-about-student-health-sign-up-for-for-a-chat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one-on-one question and answer session with immunizations<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cVirtuchella\u201d) after reviewing these materials. Please have your current documents uploaded to MySHR before your Virtuchella video visit with the immunizations nurse. The immunizations nurse team can order lab tests, or help schedule immunization appointments at USC Student Health, so that you complete your immunizations upon arrival.\u00a0<strong>It is strongly recommended that you complete as much of your immunizations, documentation uploads (or lab tests) as possible this summer, before arrival for the fall semester.\u00a0<\/strong>From August 16-27, Student Health will host an immunizations event on campus (\u201cImmuchella\u201d) to help you complete any in-person requirements that are outstanding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are arriving to campus from outside of the U.S.,<\/strong>\u00a0you may be required to have a TB test (tuberculosis test, only blood draw tests are accepted). It is recommended that you get your TB test, followed by COVID-19 vaccine on the same day (if you are not already fully vaccinated). Your TB test and COVID-19 vaccine will be available at any time that you arrive in the U.S. this summer. Contact\u00a0<a>studenthealth@usc.edu<\/a>\u00a0to make arrangements.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>ACCESSING SERVICES<\/p>\n<p>Extensive information about\u00a0<strong>student health operations, and mental health support,\u00a0the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP, provided by Aetna)\u00a0<\/strong>and the Student Health Fee is available through our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/getting-started\/introductory-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>online videos<\/strong><\/a><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Please review the information in these videos, and feel free to sign up for\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/questions-about-student-health-sign-up-for-for-a-chat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one-on-one question and answer sessions<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for insurance or general services after reviewing these materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are on long-term psychiatric medications, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/medical-policies\/policy-for-prescribing-adhd-medication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stimulant medication for ADHD<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>please plan with your current provider to have a sufficient supply of medication(s) until you can arrange to continue your care with USC Student Health. \u00a0It may take 2-4 weeks to secure an appointment so it is important to come with access to at least one month\u2019s supply of medication.<\/p>\n<p>Note the deadline for Student Health\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studenthealth.usc.edu\/waiver-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">insurance waivers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and immunizations is\u00a0<strong>Friday,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Sept. 10, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL MODULES<\/p>\n<p><strong>As part of the USC COVID-19 Safety Requirements<\/strong>, all USC students must complete:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cHealth, Hygiene and Safety for Students\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 This module will be available beginning on August 1, 2021 at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/trojanlearn.usc.edu\/\">trojanlearn.usc.edu<\/a>. The module takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and provide an overview of COVID-19 safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>All students are expected to comply with COVID-19 safety requirements; non-compliance is a violation of USC\u2019s community standards that may result in student conduct disciplinary measures.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>As part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaffairs.usc.edu\/prevention-education-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">required educational modules<\/a>\u00a0for students<\/strong>, undergraduates must complete:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cCHRSH 01: Trojans Respect Consent\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 All new undergraduate students are required to attend a live session activity, \u201cCHRSH 01 Trojans Respect Consent.\u201d These sessions are conducted via Zoom beginning in July. Virtual and in-person sessions will continue throughout the fall. The schedule for booking sessions will be available under the \u201cWorkshops\u201d tab through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usc.edu\/myshr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">usc.edu\/myshr<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>CONTACT US<\/p>\n<p>As always, our teams are ready to answer your questions and help you get started for a successful and healthy academic year.
