{"id":1421,"date":"2020-11-30T11:34:01","date_gmt":"2020-11-30T19:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/?p=1421"},"modified":"2020-11-30T11:34:01","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T19:34:01","slug":"clarification-spring-2021-wellness-days-and-grading-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.rossier.usc.edu\/edl\/clarification-spring-2021-wellness-days-and-grading-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Clarification: Spring 2021 Wellness Days and Grading Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Rossier Students, Faculty, and Staff,<\/p>\n<p>Provost Zukoski\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/view.comms.usc.edu\/?qs=235f794cfc2a4353f30115ee60f072419e64ec16882c86c81f8cabb87de6376bcc7a81a519a1be1eaff3fe19ceb0f59c9f5be2e7ef7ee9e7818cfd490fac5b00ce977d7e597f09cb3457d20b4fd5e55e\">memorandum<\/a> this week announced \u201cWellness Days\u201d scheduled throughout the Spring 2021 semester, on which no classes or academic requirements will be scheduled. This is to provide students a break in lieu of Spring Recess, which was eliminated for many USC students.<\/p>\n<p>The Provost also announced Spring grading policies <strong>for undergraduates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We have confirmed with the Registrar\u2019s office that graduate programs, which have established our own academic schedules for the Spring, may choose <u>not<\/u> to cancel classes on Wellness Days.<\/p>\n<p>Rossier is opting to hold classes on those days.\u00a0 This is because we chose an earlier Spring start date and a schedule that <u>does<\/u> include a Spring Recess. Further, virtually all of our courses meet just once a week, so class cancellations can have a substantial impact on the timely progression of a course.\u00a0 Please refer to my memo of October 16<sup>th<\/sup>, attached below, for Rossier\u2019s Spring schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, just to clarify, USC Rossier will not be cancelling classes on Spring semester Wellness Days for our graduate courses.<\/p>\n<p>Our grading options remain as previously announced (for the <em>current<\/em> semester) as well. Students should address questions about grading options to their academic advisors in their program offices.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, as always, for your patience and perseverance during this time of change and challenge.
