Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship

Open to undergraduate and graduate students

FLAS fellowships are provided by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant for undergraduate and graduate study of Mandarin Chinese, Japanese or Korean and East Asian area studies. The purpose of the program is to enrich the nation’s pool of area and international specialists. Summer 2018 awards for intensive modern language programs will be $7500. Academic Year 2018-2019 awards for study at USC, abroad, or both will be $15,000 for undergraduate students and $23,000 for graduate students, contingent on continued funding from the U.S. Department of Education Title VI program.

ACE-Nikaido Fellowship

Open to graduate students only
Deadline to Apply: Friday, February 9, 2018

The Association for Japan-U.S. Community Exchange (ACE) – Nikaido Fellowship provides stipends of up to $5,000 to awarded graduate students, depending on the proposed course of study. The purpose of the award is to advance understanding of Japan and/or US-Japan relations. Most awards are given in smaller increments based on proposed project. The award may be used for research, Japanese language training or Japanese area studies.

AccessLex/AIR Grant Opportunity

Apply today to receive funding to conduct research on legal, graduate, or professional education with the AccessLex Institute/AIR Research and Dissertation Fellows Program.

The AccessLex Institute/AIR Research and Dissertation Fellows Program promotes scholarship on issues related to access, affordability, and value of legal education specifically, and graduate and professional education more broadly. Preference is given to proposals that utilize regional, national, or multi-institutional datasets, although research that focuses on a single institution is acceptable. Preference is also given to proposals that specifically address legal education; however, proposals that study access, affordability and value of graduate and professional education more generally are also encouraged. Researchers may analyze pre-existing data or include the construction of a new dataset in their proposal.

Two grant levels are available to support year-long research projects:

  • $50,000 Research Grants
  • $25,000 Doctoral Grants

The application deadline is November 30, 2017.

Dean’s Superintendents Advisory Group (DSAG) Scholarship: 11/17/17

All EDL students are invited to apply for the Dean’s Superintendents Advisory Group (DSAG) Scholarship.  This is a competitive scholarship open to all EDL students. Preference will be given to students in their second year of the program, but all EDL students are encouraged to apply. The scholarship is a minimum $5,000 award to students aspiring to become superintendents. Scholarship winners are recognized at the annual DSAG Awards Dinner on Wednesday, January 24, 2018..

1. Complete the application.
2. Upload an essay describing your professional goals. Your essay should be no longer than 500 words.

Scholarship Opportunity: Deadline – November 17, 2017

The Office of Admissions and Scholarships has created a scholarship opportunity for current Rossier students enrolled in an on-campus program.  The scholarship application is a student experience survey and recipients will be awarded $500.

NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Education Research,

NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Education Research, 

Deadline November 2, 2017.

The NAEd/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early-career scholars working in critical areas of educational scholarship. Fellows will receive $70,000 for one academic year of research, or $35,000 for each of two contiguous years, working half time. Fellows will also attend professional development retreats and receive mentorship from NAEd members and other senior scholars in their field. Applicants must have had their PhD, EdD, or equivalent research degree conferred between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2016.

Fellowship Opportunity

The National Academy of Education Fellowship Program awards up to 35 fellowships in the amount of $27,500. They are now accepting applications and have a webinar for interested applicants scheduled for September 11, 2017. Applications are due October 5, 2017.

Eligible students must pass their qualifying exam (dissertation proposal defense) prior to June 1, 2018.
