The USC Career Launchpad is an online job-readiness program that provides students with the practical tools and skills needed to apply to and succeed in the workplace. The program is designed to be used throughout the fall semester; however, online access won’t expire until May of 2022. Registration is open September 27th – November 5th, 2021.
The interactive program takes students through every facet of beginning a job search while gaining additional skills needed in the workplace. The program includes three components:
- A Ready, Set, Career module to navigate the most time-relevant resources within the Career Center, such as resume review, informational interviews and an internship search tool.
- The Trojan Network connects students with working alumni professionals in wide-ranging roles and industries for mentorship, informational interviews and more.
- Skill Booster modules taught by USC faculty members provide an asynchronous opportunity to build competency in specific hard and soft skill areas most cited as important to today’s employers.
Skill Booster modules are six to eight hours of coursework and are all created by USC faculty who are experts in their fields. Each completed module will be notated on the student’s transcript and will generate a Certificate of Completion which can amplify a resume or LinkedIn profile. Students are encouraged to select at least two modules from:
- Critical Media Literacy: Build a Personal & Professional Information Routine
- Decision-Making and Your Career: An Owner’s Manual
- People Skills for a Polarized World
- Visualizing Data: The Art of Practice
- Strategies for Professional Self-Presentation in the Digital Age
- Fundamentals of Project Management
- Remote Working: Setting Yourself Up for Success
